MeghaOS is an Agentic AI operating system. A reasoning AI core understands your intent, composes its own interface from live widgets, writes and safely runs code, and drives hundreds of real tools to actually get work done, and it all runs locally on your machine. It comes in three forms: a full immutable Linux operating system, a desktop environment you can install on any modern Wayland-based Linux distribution, and a native macOS app.

The macOS App is the quickest way to try it: a native Mac app you drag into your Applications folder, with no dual-boot and no virtual machine. The Desktop Environment installs the full Agentic AI workspace on top of your existing Linux distribution. The Operating System is the complete, immutable Linux base with the desktop pre-installed and tuned. All three run the very same local AI engine.

Megha is our own 0.6-billion-parameter causal language model, purpose-built for agentic workflows, coding, and reasoning. It supports 100+ languages, a 32K-token context window, and a toggleable Thinking Mode for step-by-step reasoning on hard problems. It's openly available on Hugging Face (MeghaOS/Megha) and Ollama ('ollama run meghaos/megha').

Yes. MeghaOS is local-first. The AI engine and your persistent memory run on your own device, so your data never has to leave your machine. The Megha model can run entirely offline through Ollama, so core AI features keep working with no internet connection, which is ideal for privacy-sensitive and air-gapped setups.

MeghaOS is currently an early-access technology preview, and every build is a free download from the Download page. That includes the macOS app (Apple Silicon and Intel, macOS 11 or later, notarized by Apple), the Linux Desktop Environment as a Debian package, and the full Operating System as an installer ISO for 64-bit PCs.

MeghaOS has a persistent semantic memory. As you work, it stores your projects, preferences, and past interactions as vector embeddings and recalls the most relevant context on demand, so it carries what it learns from one session into the next, and every workspace (chat, code, browser, and more) shares that same memory.

Yes. With the permissions you grant, Megha can read and draft email, manage your calendar, and open, edit, and organize files on your device, alongside dozens of other built-in tools, so it can carry a task from your inbox to a finished document without you switching between apps.

Download the .dmg that matches your Mac's chip, Apple Silicon or Intel, then drag MeghaOS into your Applications folder. That's it: no partitions, no terminal commands, and no virtual machine. Both builds are notarized by Apple, so the app opens without security warnings.
